With $2bn in sales per year, Millipore is the largest life sciences company in Massachusetts. Working with internal creative resources and third party agencies, LIGHT principals managed a year-long project to create and launch the new Millipore brand in September 2007.
To mark the re-branding of the company, launch events were held simultaneously in 28 countries where Millipore conducted business. At the conclusion of these events, almost 1600 of Millipore’s key personnel returned to their desk to find a box of 250 business cards reflecting the new brand identity and a branding kit that provided a step-by-step guide on how the new brand should be communicated visually in any promotional efforts or sales literature.
This was followed by an entirely re-branded and re-architected website launched in October 2007 that combined and showcased the products of 5 companies Millipore had acquired during the previous 18 months.
In December 2007, a customer survey showed over 70% of Millipore’s customers were aware of the new brand and the company’s renewed efforts to provide products and services for the research and drug discovery phases of pharmaceutical production.
In February 2010, Millipore was acquired by German pharmaceutical giant Merck for $7 billion. A 100% premium to their share price in 2007.
